These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Good Standing & Co. website and your engagement of our mobile notary services. By using our website or booking an appointment with us, you agree to these Terms.
For mortgage licensing compliance consulting, the terms of your engagement are set out in a separate signed agreement between you and Good Standing & Co. That agreement governs, and these Terms apply only where it is silent.
Good Standing & Co. is a Michigan based mobile notary service, operated by Good Standing Compliance & Operations LLC, dba Good Standing & Co. Our notarial acts are performed by a commissioned Michigan notary public in accordance with the Michigan Law on Notarial Acts, Act 238 of 2003, as amended.
You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes. Information you provide through our contact form, intake form, or booking system must be accurate and complete. We reserve the right to decline service to anyone who provides false or misleading information.
Appointments are booked directly through our website. When you submit a booking request, we check real-time availability against our calendar (managed via Google Calendar) and process your booking fee through Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe's own terms of service and privacy notice, available at stripe.com/legal, govern your use of the payment tool itself.
Your booking fee is charged at the time you submit your request, before we've reviewed it. This is a real charge, not a hold. If we're unable to accept your request after reviewing it, your booking fee is fully refunded. Beyond the booking fee, submitting a request does not guarantee your appointment is confirmed — we review each request and follow up to confirm the details and your final total.
Every confirmation includes a link to reschedule or cancel your appointment yourself. Refund treatment for a reschedule or cancellation follows our Booking Policy; where a refund applies, it's issued manually by us rather than automatically.
What we do. We perform notarial acts, such as acknowledgments, jurats, oaths, affirmations, and witnessing signatures, at the location and time you book with us.
What we don't do. We are not attorneys. We cannot draft, review, or advise on the content of your documents, explain their legal effect, or tell you which type of notarization your document needs. If you're unsure, please check with the party requesting the document or with an attorney before your appointment.
What we need from you. A valid, unexpired government issued photo ID, and your document, unsigned. Michigan law requires us to witness the signing, so documents signed in advance cannot be notarized. We reserve the right to decline to notarize a document if we cannot verify your identity, if you appear to be signing under duress or without understanding what you're signing, or if the document or circumstances raise concerns under Michigan notary law.
Appointment terms. Booking windows, fees, deposits, and cancellation terms are set out in our Booking & Deposit Policy.
Fees are quoted at booking and confirmed before your appointment is finalized. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise agreed in writing.
We take care to perform every notarial act accurately and in accordance with Michigan law. That said, we are not responsible for the underlying validity, enforceability, or legal effect of any document you ask us to notarize, or for how a third party uses that document afterward. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount you paid for the appointment in question.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services will be resolved in the courts of Michigan.
We may update these Terms as our services grow and change. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date. Continued use of our website or services after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Questions about these Terms are always welcome.
